I knew you when you were young. I've seen you grow all these years. But you wouldn't recognize me anymore, you would probably pass me by. We ran wild and free in those long fields, nothing to ever care about, nothing holding us back except our own imaginations; there were no inhibitions. So on the Serpent we pledged our love, the majestic green of his sides shining in the sun. And in the long reeds we settled down and embraced each other in tender repose. You left that very same week and I never felt so weak. I must have known in my heart that the moment had passed and we would never see another summer. I look at you know and the sunlight has gone from out of your face, replaced only by stone. You're weary from the pains of this world, but I cannot follow you any further. You renounced the Serpent. You renounced that evening. You have no memories of that perfect summer. You now only know when to kneel and when to stand.
